Canadian Francophonie Scholarship Program Benefits

The Canadian Francophonie Scholarship Program offers the followings:

  1. Airline tickets (arrival and final return) + Travel allowances.
  2. Installation allowance on arrival. (*)
  3. Allowance for winter clothing purchase during the first semester of the arrival.
  4. Monthly living allowance (housing, meals, and personal expenses).
  5. Allowance for books per session.
  6. Possibility of acquiring a computer once during the academic stay.
  7. Tuition fees (program courses only). (*)
  8. Travel Allowance for Conferences Attendance (for Master of Research or PhD only)
  9. Health coverage for the duration of the training program.
  10. Available Budget to support research activities (only for masters, PhD).

Scholarship Structure and Application Process

The Canadian Francophonie Scholarship Program 2024 offers financial support to students pursuing various levels of study, including short-term courses, technical or vocational training, college, university, or master’s degrees. The application process involves submitting a completed application form, academic records, a research proposal (if applicable), and letters of recommendation. Canadian Francophonie Scholarship Program Eligibility

Candidates for the Canadian Francophonie Scholarship Program must satisfy the following criteria:

  • Must be a citizen of an eligible country (Check list above).
  • The programme must correspond to at least one of priorities area that has been defined by the beneficiary country.
  • The candidate must be employed
  • Occupy a key position (exception for female candidates if her employer agrees to reinstate her in a key position after her return)
  • The candidate’s institution must be in the category of eligible institutions to receive awards in order of priority
  • The institution must commit to reintegrating the candidate at the end of his program. The institute must define its institutional reinforcement needs
  • Fluency in spoken and written French: Since studies must be done on a continuous basis in French and in a French-language institution in Canada, fluency in French is an essential condition for admission. Nationals from Cambodia, Cape Verde, Dominica, Egypt, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Laos, Lebanon, Mauritania, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, St Lucia, Seychelles, Vanuatu and Vietnam are required to demonstrate success of the TFI exam.
  • Applicants selected for a program in Public Administration must pass the SEL (Service d’évaluation linguistique)exam;
  • Mastery of basic computer tools: WORD, Excel, PowerPoint and internet research. A TOSA Skills Testwill be administered to verify skill level.
  • Studies in medicine, pharmacy and dentistry for clinical training are excluded, except for postdoctoral research.
  • Persons who have applied for immigration to Canada or who have resident status or whose spouse has this status are not eligible.

To apply, applicants must contact the management committee of the scholarship in their respective countries (available here) for information regarding the method of submission and submission deadlines. Then submit their applications before the deadline for receipt of applications from their respective countries.

  1. Local Selection Committees will select the candidates according to their academic record; their level of French; the presentation of the studies and professional development project; as well as the prospects for institutional development
  2. The Canadian partner (Canadian Bureau for International Education / World University Service of Canada) will review and approve the list of candidates recommended by the Local Selection Committee.
  3. The selected candidates will be informed to take contact with Canadian academic institutions to obtain an admission offer from these institutions.
